How to set up a mobile proxy on iPhone and Android

Updated 9 October 2026

Send your whole phone through a T-Proxy UK mobile proxy with OpenVPN or WireGuard, or use it in the Wi-Fi settings.

For most people, OpenVPN is the better choice: the whole phone goes through the proxy, including apps that ignore proxy settings, and it keeps working when you leave Wi-Fi. Use the Wi-Fi proxy setting on an iPhone if you only need a browser and can’t install apps. If your proxy has WireGuard, it works just as well as OpenVPN and needs no password.

OpenVPN on iPhone and Android

Every T-Proxy proxy comes with an OpenVPN profile, a small .ovpn file. You need the free OpenVPN Connect app from the App Store or Google Play.

1. Get the profile onto your phone

  1. Sign in to T-Proxy on the phone and open your proxy’s page (or the dashboard).
  2. Tap OVPN. The profile downloads to your phone.

Setting up someone else’s phone? The dashboard’s copy button includes an OpenVPN download link that works without a T-Proxy login: open it on their phone to download the profile.

2. Import it into OpenVPN Connect

  1. iPhone: open the Files app, find the .ovpn file in Downloads, tap the Share button and choose OpenVPN. Or in OpenVPN Connect, tap + › Upload File › Browse and pick the file.
  2. Android: in OpenVPN Connect, tap + › Upload File › Browse, and pick the file from Downloads.
  3. Tap Add (or Import) to save the profile.

3. Connect

  1. When asked, enter your proxy’s username and password, the same ones shown for HTTP and SOCKS5. Tick Save password so you aren’t asked every time.
  2. Tap the switch to connect, and allow the VPN when the phone asks for permission.
  3. Once it says Connected, all of the phone’s traffic leaves through your UK mobile proxy.
The profile connects over UDP port 1194. Some workplace, hotel and public Wi-Fi networks block VPNs; if it won’t connect there, try on mobile data. A new proxy, or one that has been migrated, has a new profile, so import it again.

WireGuard on iPhone and Android

Most of our modems also support WireGuard. If yours does, its page shows a WireGuard card with a wireguard:// link and a WireGuard button. If it says “Not available on this server”, use OpenVPN, or tick the WireGuard filter when you buy your next proxy. You need the free WireGuard app from the App Store or Google Play.

1. Get the config file onto your phone

  1. Sign in to T-Proxy on the phone and open your proxy’s page.
  2. Tap WireGuard. A small .conf file downloads to your phone.

2. Import it into the WireGuard app

  1. Open the WireGuard app and tap + (on iPhone, Add a tunnel the first time).
  2. Choose Create from file or archive (iPhone) or Import from file or archive (Android), and pick the .conf file from Downloads.
  3. Allow the VPN when the phone asks for permission.

3. Connect

  1. Tap the switch next to the tunnel. There’s no username or password: the key is inside the file.
  2. Once it’s on, all of the phone’s traffic leaves through your UK mobile proxy.
Keep the .conf file and the wireguard:// link private: anyone who has either can use your proxy. Use each file on one device at a time. A new or migrated proxy has a new config, so import it again.

Vless (Xray) apps

Proxies with WireGuard also have a vless:// link, shown on the proxy page under Xray / Vless. It works in Xray apps such as v2rayNG or Hiddify on Android, and Streisand or Shadowrocket on iPhone. Copy the link, then use the app’s import option (usually + › Import from clipboard) and connect. Menus differ between apps, so check the app’s own help if yours looks different. Keep this link private too.

iPhone: Wi-Fi proxy setting

iOS has a built-in proxy setting for each Wi-Fi network, with a username and password. Get your proxy’s host, HTTP port, username and password from its page first.

  1. Open Settings › Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the ⓘ next to the network you’re connected to.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Configure Proxy.
  4. Choose Manual.
  5. Server: the host, 187.124.210.93 or 187.124.113.127. Port: your HTTP port (not the SOCKS5 one).
  6. Turn on Authentication and enter the username and password.
  7. Tap Save.

This applies to that Wi-Fi network only. It doesn’t cover mobile data or other networks, and some apps ignore the setting. To turn it off, set Configure Proxy back to Off.

Android: Wi-Fi proxy setting

Android also has a proxy setting per Wi-Fi network, but it has no username or password fields. A browser may ask you to sign in to the proxy when you open a page, but most apps can’t, and simply fail to connect. Use OpenVPN on Android unless you only need a browser. If you want to try it, the setting is here (menu names vary by phone maker):

  1. Pixel and most phones: Settings › Network & internet › Internet › tap the gear next to your Wi-Fi network › Edit (pencil) › Advanced options › Proxy › Manual.
  2. Samsung: Settings › Connections › Wi-Fi › tap the gear next to your network › View more › Proxy › Manual.
  3. Enter the host as the proxy hostname and your HTTP port as the proxy port, then save.

Check it works

With the VPN connected or the proxy set, open api64.ipify.org in the phone’s browser. It should show your proxy’s address, not your own. Phones on SIMs with IPv6 may show an IPv6 address; api.ipify.org shows the IPv4 one.

If you use TCP/OS spoofing on the proxy page, set it to iOS or Android to match the phone.

Rotate the IP from your phone

Open your proxy’s page and use Rotate IP, or open its Rotation URL in the browser. A short message with "result": "success" means the modem has a new address. The connection pauses while that happens, usually for less than a minute; the OpenVPN and WireGuard apps carry on by themselves. Leave at least a minute between rotations.

Questions

Which username and password does OpenVPN ask for?

Your proxy’s own username and password, the same as for HTTP and SOCKS5. Not your T-Proxy account login.

Does the Wi-Fi proxy work on mobile data?

No. The proxy setting belongs to one Wi-Fi network. Use OpenVPN or WireGuard to cover mobile data as well.

Can I share a proxy’s OpenVPN profile with someone?

Yes. The OpenVPN link from the dashboard downloads the profile without a T-Proxy login, which is how resellers hand proxies to their own customers. They also need the proxy’s username and password.

OpenVPN or WireGuard?

Either sends the whole phone through the proxy. WireGuard needs no password and is quick to reconnect when you switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, but only most of our modems have it; OpenVPN works on every proxy.

Why does an app still show my own location?

With the Wi-Fi proxy method, some apps ignore the system proxy, and location can also come from GPS. Switch to OpenVPN or WireGuard so all traffic goes through the proxy, and check the app’s location permission.
